In a notable show of unity and shared political heritage, the leadership of the GPRN/NSCN held a meeting with more than 80 Kuki national workers, representing both civil and military wings at Oking. The meeting was led by senior GPRN/NSCN leader, C Singson, along with Ato Kilonser and Convener of the Working Committee of NNPGs, N Kitovi Zhimomi, and Vice President, Chennyiem Konyak.

The gathering highlighted the contribution of the legendary Lengjan Kuki, the sole Kuki signatory to the January 10, 1929 memorandum to the British Statutory Commission remains a beacon of light for the indigenous Kukis of Nagaland.

The Kukis of Nagaland were reminded of their inseparable link with the Naga political movement, which is rooted in the soil of Nagaland. Speakers emphasized that the contribution of Kukis to the Naga political movement from 1929 till date was remarkable for a fact that Kukis had stood shoulder to shoulder with the Naga pioneers in the political movement, much earlier than the Naga brothers from Manipur. “This fact of history cannot be erased,” they said.

According to a press release issued by MIP, GPRN/NSCN, during the meeting, the Kuki national workers were encouraged to continue the legacy of the pioneers and also asked to ignore the false scripts of those late entrants of the Naga movement, trying to rewrite and diminish Naga history, identity and culture with dubious impractical narrative.

The Kuki delegation acknowledge the leadership of GPRN/NSCN, under the leadership of President (Retd), Maj RM Lotha and N Kitovi Zhimomi, who is also the Convenor of the Working Committee, NNPGs and reiterated that the Kukis of Nagaland, as stakeholders, would support an honourable and acceptable political solution between the Government of India and the Nagas.

They pledged that indigenous Kukis would remain an integral part of the Naga political and social system and would continue to protect and defend Nagaland.
