Government Primary School Upper Khomi on Tuesday celebrated its Golden Jubilee at the school campus, with Thupuvecho Tetseo, former teacher of GPS Upper Khomi, as the special guest.
Addressing the event, Thupuvecho Tetseo emphasized the 50th anniversary theme, “Celebrating 50 Years of Learning, Knowledge & Progress,” and reminded the gathering that learning is a continuous process stated a update.
He stated that students and parents should understand that school is not the only place for gaining knowledge, but that “home is the best institution in the world,” and challenged the gathering by stating that students and parents are equally responsible for gaining quality education.
Tetseo also reminded the students to sincerely honour their parents, who are considered the best teachers and can truly mould them in all spheres of life.
The souvenir was released by Rev Dr Nuvocho Dzudo, Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church, East Dimapur.
Greetings were delivered by P Lohe Chachie, Senior SDEO, Phek Block, while the act of blessing was performed by Vechop A Curha, former teacher.

Earlier, Thupuvecho Tetseo unveiled the Jubilee monolith, and the dedicatory prayer was offered by Vepoduyi Vero, Associate Pastor, UKBC.
The programme was led by Ruyingoi Tetseo, and a special presentation was performed by the students of GPS Upper Khomi. The thanksgiving prayer was offered by Husapa Ruho, Pastor, UKBC, and the vote of thanks was tendered by Nuvecho Vero, VCC, Upper Khomi Village.
One of the most significant parts of the celebration was also marked by paying obituary references to its pioneers, namely Lt Veduzo Nienu, first teacher of GPS Upper Khomi village, and other former teachers: Lt Vecüsüh Lohe of Middle Khomi, Lt Kekhwetsolo of Sümi village, Lt Thomas (Tangkhul Naga), Lt Vesato Lohe of Porba Village, Lt Puthitso Sakhamo of Porba Village and Lt Wetelo-u Nyenga of Upper Khomi village.
The 50th anniversary celebration was warmly graced by former teachers, alumni, well-wishers, and all the citizens of Upper Khomi.
