Gram Sabha meeting held in Wokha Village to formulate GPDP for 2024-25

Wokha: Discussions delved into identifying development gaps within villages

A special Gram Sabha meeting was convened at the Wokha Village Council Hall on 12th December 2023 to discuss on the formulation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the year 2024-25.

The event saw the active participation of key individuals, including Tushimanen Jamir, the Nodal Officer for GPDP in Wokha Block, Aruna Markose, Young Professional (YP), National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad, Anuranjan Singh overseeing Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Shishoi Oshom from the Entrepreneurship Task Force (ETF) – Cell Wokha. Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) also joined, shedding light on their respective schemes and offerings.

Comprehensive awareness programs were conducted during the meeting, covering various schemes, with a particular emphasis on the PM Vishwakarma initiative. Village Organizations (VO) and self help groups took the opportunity to present their Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP) and findings on poverty-related issues and proposed and submitted demands for poverty reduction to the Gram Sabha.

The discussions delved into identifying development gaps within the villages. Following these deliberations and the identification of gaps, the Gram Sabha prioritized and approved specific activities to be implemented under the GPDP for the year 2024-25.

The Wokha Village Council later highlighted that the following development works/plans were taken up at the meeting for 2024-25: Construction of drainage, maintenance of village gate and plantation under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA); beautification of village gate, construction of marketing shed and retaining wall under grant-in-aid (GIA) scheme; construction of ring well under the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV-FC).
