Grand Campfire programme on special basic course for scoutmasters and guide captains

A grand campfire program on special basic course for Scoutmasters and Guide Captains was held at the 173 CRPF Bn DEF camp in Mokokchung on October 25 with Manoj Kumar IPS, Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, as the Grand Campfire Chief and Sentinenla Asst. Dist. Organizing Commissioner (Guide) for Mokokchung as the Master of Ceremony.

A total of 40 participants attended the Special Basic Course, with 21 being in Scout Section and 19 in the Guide Section along with their trainers.

In his speech, the Grand Campfire Chief, Manoj Kumar IPS appreciated all the Scout and Guide trainees and trainers who participated in the Course organized in Mokokchung. He emphasized the importance of the Scouts and Guides movement in developing leadership qualities, coordination skills, and fostering national integration. The SP also highlighted the movement’s international reach, spanning 216 countries, and the significant number of volunteers involved in India. While the Scouts and Guides movement in Nagaland began in the late 1960s, Mokokchung district’s involvement dates back to 1949, focusing on non-political and non-religious education and awareness for youth.

The Grand Campfire Chief encouraged all Scout Masters and Guide Captains to be ambassadors for the movement and support its growth. He applauded the district office bearers and state-level officials for their efforts in organizing the course and encouraged more activities in the district.

Kumar expressed the Mokokchung Police’s commitment to contributing to the Bharat Scouts and Guides’ promotion, especially in the areas of traffic management and road safety.

In her brief exhortation, Sentinenla, Asst. Dist. Organizing Commissioner (Guide) for Mokokchung, expressed disappointment about the low turnout of students from local schools, despite 93 participants registering. She urged more schools to participate, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Bharat Scouts and Guides in 2025.

The program was attended by officials from the Capital Bharat Scouts and Guides, Mokokchung District Bharat Scouts and Guides, Ao Senden, and Colonel Rahul Gurung, Commandant of the 12th Assam Rifles, Mokokchung. The event included camp impressions from the Scout and Guide wings, folk songs, and a camp report presentation, with Tovili Wati, Dist. Organizing Commissioner (Guide) for Mokokchung, delivering the vote of thanks.

The camp, which began on October 20, will conclude on October 26 with the lowering of the National Flag and the National Anthem.
