Addressing the programme themed ‘Our Culture, Our Heritage’, Ganesan said that Phek held a place of national importance because a big historical event had taken place in the land referring to the time when Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the Indian National Army (INA) marched across Phek along with the Japanese Army for the liberation of our motherland under the slogan ‘Chalo Delhi’ in 1944 during the World War II.
He also mentioned that many Nagas joined the liberation march as the region remained the only liberated territory of India under the administration of ‘Azad Hind Fauj’. He therefore encouraged the people to make these historical events a part of their heritage.
The Governor expressed his happiness to the College as it has been accredited Grade B by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in February 2019 and for the recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(F) and 12(B) of UGC Act, 1956 which will enable the College to receive fundings for its development.
La Ganesan said that the indigenous skills of making handcrafted products is in much tandem with the emphasis of the New Education Policy on vocational and skill-based education which will preserve the knowledge of our tradition. He stated that the programme gave a small but significant taste of India’s rich culture and also a sense of pride and belongingness to one’s national identity.
