The Ghotovi Village Council (GVC) has on Tuesday informed that the emergency repair works on the Dimapur-Niuland-Kohima Road via Ghotovi Village/ Zadima has been completed and that commuters can use the road in emergency situations.
In a press release, the Secretary of GVC, Z Zhimomi stated that the repair works was led by Sara Jamir, Deputy Commissioner of Niuland in collaboration with Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Inahoto and under supervision of JE. Vinoto Zhimomi. The repaired works spanned from the zero point in Niuland to 16 Kms in the Dimapur Division taking place from July 5th to 10th July 2023, the statement said.
GVC further appealed to the Government of Nagaland to allocate emergency funds for repairing of Side Drain and clearing the surrounding Jungle, given that, the Road (Kohima -Bokajan) serves as the primary lifeline and a shorter route for the districts of Kohima, Tseminyu, Wokha, Zunheboto, Tuengsang, etc.
It is imperative that the State Government ensures proper maintenance to transform this road into an “All weather Road” considering the hardships faced faced by the Naga Public during natural calamities particularly on National Highway 29, GVC also added.
