Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak, has announced plans to convert the District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) into referral hospital, DIPR informed. This transformation is aimed at catering to the healthcare needs of other district hospitals in the state.
According to DIPR, during a review meeting held on the 2nd September 2023 at the conference hall of DHD, the minister assured improvements in the hospital’s infrastructure, manpower, and other essential areas. He also assured the appointment of top doctors and super specialists at District Hospital Dimapur in the near future.
Paiwang disclosed plans for the reshuffling and rationalization of doctors and medical officers, following a similar pattern to the administration and police departments, with transfers and postings limited to three years. He emphasized that medical practitioners should be willing to serve anywhere and indicated that he would not entertain transfer and posting-related letters.
Acknowledging the dedication of doctors and medical staff at District Hospital Dimapur during the COVID-19 pandemic, Paiwang assured the posting of a forensic expert and the strengthening of manpower as a priority.
The review meeting was attended by medical officials, doctors from the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, and Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal IAS.
