Nagaland is expected to witness heavy rainfall in all the districts from May 27 till March 3, informed the weather updates issued by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department on May 26.
Very heavy rainfall is predicted for Shamator district on May 27 and 28. However, for the remaining districts very heavy rainfall is predicted from June 1 till June 3. “These may be accompanied with lightning and thunderstorm at isolated places. As a result, it is vital to take the necessary measures at this period, including avoiding lightning strikes and high speed winds, which can disrupt communication and connectivity. Due to the risk of high precipitation in the hills sector, Nagaland’s low land and foothill district including Dimpaur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Bhandhari, Baghty, Tizit and Tuli are vulnerable to inundated waterlogging and flash flood,” warned the NSDMA.
