Heavy rainfalls predicted across Nagaland till 25th Aug; NSDMA advises public to exercise caution

Kohima: Lowland and foothill regions likely to be impacted by inundated water logging and flash floods

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has informed that cloudy heavy rainfall is expected across all districts of Nagaland till 25th August 2024. These showers may be accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places, it said in a press release.

The Authority has further informed that heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Kohima, Tuensang, Mokokchung, Mon, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Phek, Peren and has therefore stressed the importance of taking necessary precautionary measures during this time and exercise caution from lightning strikes and gale winds which may cause disruption in communication and connectivity.

Due to the likelihood of excessive precipitation in the hill sector, Nagaland’s lowland and foothill regions, including Dimapur, Nuiland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are likely to be impacted by inundated water logging and flash floods, the NSDMA stated.

In this regard, the Authority has advised the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period.

The NSDMA has also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to be on alert to save lives and properties during this monsoon period.
