The third day of the 23rd edition of Hornbill Festival ‘Cultural Connect’ witnessed a traditional and cultural extravaganza with various tribes presenting a diverse range of song and dance performances.
Lt General Jagamohan Singh Sidana, Commandant ACEME Col Commandant Corps EME, and his wife graced the function in the morning session. The hosts of the programme were Temjen Imna Along, minister for Tribal Affairs & Higher Education, and Zhaleo Rio, advisor of Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs.
The following performances were presented in the morning session.
Rengma Cultural Troupe – Sukhuki (Folk Dance)
Kachari Cultural Troupe – Slemah Dikhawbani (Folk Song)
Lotha Cultural Troupe – Iya Hoi, Holo-Iye (Song of Enchantment)
Pochuri Cultural Troupe – Yaloro Kwhi (Folk Song)
Ao Cultural Troupe – Arr Malu (Tug of War)
Sumi (Dimapur Base) troupe – Folk Dance
Chakhesang (Kohima Base) troupe – Riwhuphe (War and Headhunting Dance)

Justice Sanjay Kumar, Chief Justice Manipur High Court, was the special guest of the afternoon session. He was accompanied by honoured guest Amrendra Kumar, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Shillong and Lt Gen P C Nair, AVSM, YSM, PhD, Director General Assam Rifles.
Neiba Kronu, minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and S Keoshu, advisor of Village Guards, Information and Public Relations, were the host and co-host respectively.

Sumi Cultural Troupe – Spear Kicking
Zeliang Cultural Troupe – Ahoibe Lim (Falcon Dance)
Chakhesang Cultural Troupe – Chechukuva (Traditional Game)
Angami Cultural Troupe (Mima Village) – Seyie Geizo (Mima Song & Dance)
Garo Cultural Troupe –Anseng Rere (Folk Song)
Kuki Cultural Troupe –Lamkol Lam (Folk Dance)
Pochury Cultural Troupe (Kohima Base) –Chie Wochiewo (Indigenous Game)
The Spear Kicking performance by the Sumi Cultural Troupe, which depicted a warrior hunting and taking the head of an enemy as a trophy, left the crowd in awe.
The 2nd edition of the Catapult Target Competition and the 15th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship were also held at Kisama on the third day. A variety of Naga food, handicrafts, tribal weaves, handloom and varied Agri and Horti products were also on sale on this day.
