The Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Nagaland, in collaboration with various partners will be organising the Hornbill Run themed “Run for Hornbill: Against Time” on December 7.

The 5.40 km Hornbill Run will commence at 5:30am on  December 7, 2024, from New Police Reserve Junction to Kisama, Kohima, Nagaland, as a part of the 25^th edition of Hornbill Festival of Nagaland 2024.

Titled “Run for Hornbill | Against Time”, the event aims to combine the spirit of celebration of the Hornbill Festival while also championing the role of ecologically and culturally important birds in the forests of the State especially Hornbills which are inextricably intertwined with Naga culture and heritage but declining at the same time.

Hence, through through activities such as the Run for Hornbill, the Department expressed the need to create massive outreach.

The top five finishers (male and female) will be awarded with cash prize of 15k, 10k, 5k, 3k & 2k respectively. All finishers will be awarded with certificates.

RULES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Eligibility:

Since the event is a fun run, there is no age limit. However, care has to be taken so that based on your age and health conditions, participants do not over exert themselves during the run. Please bring a valid id card showing birth date.

Timeline and Timings:

• Online registration for the fun run will close at 12:00 PM on 6^th Dec 2024. The reporting time at Police Reserve Hill, Kohima for all runners will be 05:30 AM on the race day.
• The Gun time at the scheduled place for the race shall be 06:15 AM.

Race course:

• Police Reserve Hill, Kohima (Start Line) to Kisama, Kohima, Nagaland (Finish Line), Approx, distance: 5.40 Km

-Runners shall only adhere to the specified route.

Fun Run:

-Quests at the finish line- Awareness booths

-Light refreshments for all participants

-Information displays

Prize/Certificates eligibility

• Prize money will be awarded to the top five male and female finishers (15k, 10k, 5k, 3k and 2k respectively). Runners crossing the start line within 10 minutes from gun time shall only be eligible for Prize Money and position.
• All participants to be given finisher certificates on completion of the distance.

Liability Waiver

The Event organizer and Event sponsors/partners will not be responsible for any injury or illness or any untoward happening of whatsoever nature, that may be caused on race day or thereafter because of your participation in the event.
