The Chang Wedoshi Setshang (CWS) ‘Integrated Library’ was inaugurated on 15 October this year. An initiative of the CWS formerly known as the Confederation of Chang Students’ Union, the library currently has the capacity of 25,000 books with the possibility for expansion in the future.

It was collective effort that helped make the library become a reality. Financial support, building materials and even manual help from various individuals and organizations went into building the library.

This one of its kind library has books from various genres including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, adventure, science, drama and even academic books. The library also has an adjoining room for audio/visual exhibition where documentaries and audio clips are made available to interested persons.

What started in February 2022 took almost eight months to complete. The library was finally inaugurated on 15 October by Vishal Chauhan IPS, Superintendent of Police Tuensang.

The books are currently arranged in the Dewey-decimal classification with a slight modification to suit the books available for better accessibility to readers.

Promoting reading culture among the people of Tuensang and fostering young minds in particular were central to why the library was started. Apart from reading, the CWS also hopes that the library will address the need to promote and preserve cultural practices through the videos and audio clips available.

The library is also expected to serve as a hub for exchanging ideas and thoughts and promoting peer growth. The facilities are open to the public to avail and access.

The Chang Wedoshi Setshang hopes that the Integrated Library will be able to live up to the dream and aspirations on which it has been built.
