Tsiurile V. Thonglii, daughter of Vongsuthong Sanglishe from Little Flower Hr. Sec. School, Kohima, made her mark by securing the state’s top 4 position in the HSLC exams 2024 with an impressive score of 97.83%. Hailing from the Yimkhiung community in Pungro Village, Kiphire, Thonglii shared her journey to success with Nagaland Tribune.
Stressing on her meticulous exam preparation strategy, Thonglii mentioned that prioritizing covering the syllabus comprehensively and focusing on important topics has help her alot. Thonglii managed her time effectively by tackling challenging subjects first and then revising systematically.
Throughout her preparation, the topper shared about the challenges she went through such as sacrificing sleep and missing out on festivities and social events. Acknowledging her parents and teachers, Thonglii highlighted the unconditional support of her parents ensuring a conducive environment for her studies, and teachers for their constant availability to clarify doubts and provide guidance.
Additionally, Thonglii stated that she drew inspiration from the competitive spirit among her classmates, motivating her to excel in her studies.
Thonglii’s study routine was flexible yet disciplined, dedicating at least 4-5 hours daily, with extended hours during exams. Mostly relying on textbooks, notes, and occasionally the internet for clarification, the topper maintained focus, avoiding distractions to prioritize her studies.

On future aspirations, Thonglii intends to pursue the science stream in higher secondary education. Her ultimate goal is to crack the necessary competitive examinations and pursue a career in the medical field, if it aligns with her passions and ambitions.
Offering advice to her fellow students, Thonglii shared that one important tip for students aiming to perform well professionally is to avoid procrastination. “Delaying your studies can hinder your ability to achieve satisfactory results. It is crucial to stay disciplined and dedicated to your academic goals. Additionally, approach your studies prayerfully, seeking guidance and strength from a higher power to help you succeed,” advised the topper.
