HSSLC 2024 Science Stream Topper Narola Imsong credits faith and hard work for her success

Mokokchung: Narola speaks of healthy competition with classmate Imtisungkum Longkumer, who secured Top 3 position

Narola Imsong, student of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung has topped the

Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate Examination 2024 – Science Stream conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education. She scored an impressive 96.20 per cent in the Class 12 exam the results of which was declared on 26th April 2024.

Imsong, who hails from Yaongyimsen Village, had previously secured the Top 14 position in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2022.

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, Narola Imsong reveals that she had she opted for Science Stream because of her desire to become a doctor, a choice she made when she was in Class 9. Imsong is currently preparing for the NEET exam, and said that she remains hopeful and reliant on her faith for success.

Sharing study strategies, Imsong admitted that balancing academics and extracurricular activities was a challenge initially, but she prioritised her goal and eventually found the right equilibrium. She emphasized the importance of prayer and consistency, attributing their success to divine guidance and hard work. Overcoming challenges such as self-doubt and laziness, she credited encouragement from family, teachers, and friends for boosting her confidence and motivation.

Expressing gratitude for supportive teachers and mentors, Imsong highlighted the role of guidance and encouragement throughout her academic journey.

Narola Imsong shared her thoughts on her classmate, Imtisungkum Longkumer, who has secured the Top 3 position in the same examination and said that he is a as gifted, hardworking, and resilient, admiring his dedication and perseverance. She mentioned that they had known each other since Class 9 and expressed genuine happiness for his achievement, acknowledging the healthy competition between them over the years. Narola extended her congratulations and best wishes to Imtisungkum for his future endeavours.

Yesterday, Narola Imsong’s family was blessed with another reason to celebrate as her younger brother Sunep Imsong cleared the HSLC Exam scoring a remarkable 92.3 per cent. Congratulating her brother on his brilliant result, Narola said that Sunep is very hardworking individual and that his achievement is a very proud moment for her as well. “Congratulations my dear brother for you have worked so hard for this and I’m very happy for you,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sunep said that he draws inspiration from his parents and sister and that they motivate him to strive for excellence. He expressed his intention to pursue Arts Stream, despite scoring exceptionally well in Mathematics (98%) and Science (89%).

Rongsenwati Imsong, the father of the two exceptional children, emphasized the importance of guiding children onto the right path and instilling a fear of God. Meanwhile, their mother Atula Noklen stressed the balance between academic excellence and leisure activities. Additionally, their mother highlighted the need for parental awareness of their child’s capabilities and providing support accordingly, acknowledging that there may not be specific strategies or tips for fostering success.

Offering advice to aspiring students, Narola Imsong emphasized the importance of faith, perseverance, and self-belief, citing Proverbs 3:5-8 as a guiding principle. She added, “To all the students who are preparing for your HSSLC exams next year and also to my fellow juniors, always put God first and foremost and never give up on yourself. Even though others try to belittle you, you must not let yourself become a victim to their words.

You are capable of many things and furthermore, don’t lose sight of what is in front of you. Remember that you should not give up on your dreams and goals. Have faith in God and yourself. Don’t doubt your capabilities, but rather make your weaknesses your strengths. Never forget that your efforts will never betray you”
