20-year-old Huluyi D Vadeo has won the 2nd Chakhesang Open Wrestling Championship organised by Chakhesang Wrestling Association held here at Pfutsero Sports Complex on Friday.
Vadeo of Sakraba village under Phek district defeated Kekhriezo Nagi of Sechü Zubza village under Kohima district by two straight bouts to lift the title. Vadeo, son of lt. Vecuzo D Vadeo, stands 6 feet tall and weighs 91 kg while his opponent, 31-year-old Nagi, son of late Videtuolie Nagi, stood at 5 feet 7 inches and weighed 88kg.
The newest winner of the Chakhesang Open Wrestling Championship won the third place at the Chakhesang Wrestling Meet 2022 held in February. He is also current champion of the Secheku Wrestling Association Championship.
In the battle for the third position, Pfusato Tetseo of K Bawe village defeated Medosatuo Paunuo of Kijümetouma village. Paunuo had earlier eliminated the reigning champion Kezhavizo Thevo in the quarterfinals.
The champion Huluyi D Vadeo walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 200,000 along with citations, runner up Kekhriezo Nagi received cash prize of Rs.100,000.
Third and fourth position holders Pfusato Tetseo and Medosatuo Paunuo received Rs Rs.70,000 and Rs.50,000 respectively.
The quarterfinalist, Kethoulhou Mejura, Mudotso Thira, Kezhavizo Thevo, Atuo Tevo, each received Rs.10,000.

Ao Wrestler to compete at Chakhesang Open Naga Wrestling Championship
Kuzholuzo Nienu, Leader of NPF Legislature Party & UDA Co-Chairman, and Neikhrolo Khalo, Vice President, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) graced the Championship today as the Special Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
60 wrestlers competed for the coveted title at Pfutsero Sports Complex. The championship attracted 6 wrestlers from mainland India. Three wrestlers had come from Karnataka and three from Delhi.
