I Temsu Jamir officially declared his candidacy for the upcoming urban local body (ULB) election from Sangtemla Ward No.11 in Mokokchung Town on June 20. The declaration was made in the presence of MP S Supongmeren Jamir, who is actively rallying for the Congress Party for ULB election in Mokokchung.
In his address, I Temsu Jamir acknowledged the presence of three candidates vying for the same ward, urging the people of Sangtemla to show love and support to all contenders. He expressed his commitment to representing the interests of Mokokchung Town and his ward, vowing to stand firm for their rights, even if he faces challenges alone.
Jamir emphasized the importance of addressing issues such as trading imbalances and the need to review policies to create an economically vibrant community. He pledged to work collaboratively with the ward council and community, focusing on women’s empowerment and youth unemployment. Highlighting the lack of recreational and sporting facilities in Mokokchung, he promised to advocate for improvements in these areas.

He called for a campaign based on love and unity, encouraging ward members to vote for the most compatible and responsible candidate. He stressed that no political rivalry should destroy the harmony within the ward.
Jamir assured the Sangtemla people that he would not engage in dirty politics and promised to take responsibility for implementing good policies based on the community’s advice. He appealed to the voters to support him in the election.
Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament and President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), urged the members of Sangtemla Ward to elect a candidate of exemplary character to lead them and advance the ward’s development. He emphasized the importance of choosing a capable and responsible individual, encouraging support for the Congress candidate in the upcoming ULB Election if deemed suitable by the voters.
Highlighting the opportunity to allow the Congress party to effectively serve the community, Jamir clarified that the ULB election focuses solely on the Chairmanship, and said that there is no opposition or treasury benches. Jamir specifically endorsed Temsu Jamir as a candidate with a proven track record of accomplishments demonstrating his dedication and capability and he appealed for support for him.
The event also featured speeches from Alemjungshi, former ADC Mokokchung and INC candidate for 26 A/C, Imkongmeren Jamir, NPCCCI Secretary and in-charge of Kohima District, Imtimar GB from Sangtemla Ward Council, Molo Jamir, President of Mokokchung Town Longsa Senso Telongjem, and Toshipokba Longkümer, ex-MLA and Convenor of the District ULB Election Committee.
