IAS officer Reny Wilfred, is yet again under the Nagaland Police’ scrutiny in another sexual harrassment case. The new case pertains to alleged sexual harrasment by the Bureaucrat towards female employees at IDAN where he had previously served as Planning and Secretary. On April 4, Wilfred was relieved of his duties at IDAN.
According to a press statement issued by the Nagaland Police today, a written complaint addressed to the DGP Nagaland was received from Chairperson Nagaland State Women Commission (NSCW) on March 17 stating that a verbal intimation was received from the Chairman, DAN Abu Metha on February 27 with regard to certain allegations of sexual and mental harassment towards some of the female employees of IDAN office by Reny Wilfred IAS, Joint Secretary IDAN Kohima.
Accordingly, the NSCW took cognizance of the complaint u/s 5 and 6 of the Nagaland Women Commission Act 2006, and recorded the statements of the victims on March 5, 2025. Further, an official forwarding letter with the enclosure of a complaint letter of sexual harassment by IDAN employees addressed to the Chairman IDAN, Abu Metha was submitted to the NSWC by the IDAN Chairman on March 3.
The letter and annexures to the letter of the Nagaland State Women Commission were received subsequently. Immediately upon receipt of the letter and annexures (statements of the staff at IDAN), as per the provisions of BNSS, the PHQ instituted a Preliminary Enquiry on March 25, 2025, by a lady officer of the rank of Dy SP. The officer conducted the Preliminary Enquiry and submitted the report on April 1.
“The report of the Enquiry Officer prima facie revealed the commission of an Cognizable offence of sexual harassment U/S 75 & 79 of BNS warranting an in-depth Criminal investigation and recommended for further investigation to uncover the full extent and truthfulness of the allegations,” stated the Nagaland Police.

With the Preliminary Enquiry substantiating the allegations made by the IDAN employees, and a cognizable case made out, an FIR was formally registered on April 2 (SCPS Case No. 01/2025 Dated 02/04/2025 U/S 74/75(2)/79 BNS) and the same was endorsed to a a specially constituted STT (Special Investigation Team) team led by a senior IPS officer for investigation.
Further, four officers were also co-opted to be team members to investigate the case
“As required by the Law, a copy of the FIR has been given to the Hon’ble court, the Chief Secretary of the State as well as the NSCW. Investigation of the case is undergoing and Police team is looking into all aspects of the allegations,” informed the Nagaland Police.
Update on Previous Case:
The Nagaland Police also mention that Reny Wilfred TAS, Joint Secretary IDAN Kohima has been charged in SCPS Case no. 04/2021 registered under section 10 and 12 of POCSO Act. 3544 and 354B of IPC for alleged molestation of two underage girls who were engaged as maid servants during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner Noklak at his Official Residence. After thorough and detail investigation a Charge sheet in the matter was filed on December 12, 2021 in the court of Special judge (POCSO Act) Tuensang. “After going through the Chargesheet, the Hon’ble Court took cognizance of the Charges and commenced the Trial. As per information available with police, since then the case is under trial at Tuensang and 34 out of 50 Prosecution witnesses have deposed in the instant case,” informed the Police.
