The ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), in collaboration with the District Administration, Wokha, Government of Nagaland, and ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha, successfully conducted an Orientation cum Field Visit on Tuber Crops on February 25 in Wokha.
The program was led by a distinguished team of experts, including Dr. R. Muthuraj, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CTCRI, Dr. D. Jaganathan, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CTCRI, Dr. T. Krishnakumar, Scientist, ICAR-CTCRI, Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, Wokha, and Shri Anuranjan Singh, Project Manager-ETF, District Administration, Wokha, along with officials from Wokha Block DDMU, NSRLM.
The orientation focused on Tapioca Processing and Scientific Farming Techniques, providing farmers with insights into tuber crop utilization, value addition, and sustainable agricultural practices.

The ICAR-CTCRI team emphasized the Importance, economic potential, and scope of tuber crops, highlighting scientific methods for enhancing productivity and post-harvest processing of Tapioca.
A key highlight of the event was the active participation of the Self-Help Group (SHG) under Englan Yingsung Cluster Level Federation from Old Riphyim Village, who engaged in discussions and hands-on demonstrations on improving yield efficiency and market linkages.
Speaking on the occasion, ICAR-CTCRI scientists underscored the need for modern processing techniques and value chain development to maximize the benefits of Tapioca cultivation. The District Administration, Wokha, reiterated its commitment to supporting local farmers through scientific interventions, capacity-building programs, and market-oriented strategies for sustainable agricultural growth in the region.
