Identity of deceased man found at Lerie confirmed, cause of death under investigation

Kohima Police have confirmed the identity of the man whose body was discovered on September 23 at Lerie, along the Kohima By-Pass road below the Helipad, but the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

According to information from the Police Department, the deceased has been identified as Zuchanbemo Tungoe, 44, a Constable in the Armed Branch of DEF Tuensang who was currently serving at the PHQ State Crime Police Station. He was a resident of Lerie Colony and hailed from Changsü Village under Wokha District.

Preliminary reports indicated an injury mark on his temple, and a country-made .22 pistol was found near the body. The exact time of death has not been determined, though it is suspected to have occurred in the early morning hours of September 23.

Police have stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident, and further details are awaited.
