The Office of the International Human Rights Council (IHRC) Kohima Board has condemned the ‘Capital Punishment’ imposed on the proprietor of M/s KKB Rülho, K Rülho, by NSCN-K (Khango)/GPRN due to a default in payment demanded by the group.

According to the Board, the punishment is both unreasonable and barbaric, and such a law is not directly applicable except in the rarest of rare cases under Indian criminal law.

The Council has urged the conflicting parties to engage in dialogue and resolve the issue in good faith, “arriving at an amicable solution through negotiations and peaceful means”. Prolonging the issue may lead to further repercussions, said the Council. It also appealed all Naga revolutionary parties to adhere to the fundamental principles of basic human rights and to respect and uphold the rights of every individual.
