MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu termed the Government of India’s decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border and scrapping of Free Movement Regime, as “illogical” and alleged that GoI has a “hidden agenda”. The Indian Government blaming insurgency and drug peddling for closure of FMR are not valid grounds, said Nienu.
MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, said this while initiating discussion on matters of urgent public importance pertaining to “Fencing of Indo-Myanmar Border” on the third day of the 4th Assembly session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Nienu reminded the house that Article 371 A, can protect the Nagas if used wisely and urged the August house to pass a resolution requesting the GoI to consult all State governments or stake holders before taking a final call.
He also appealed the GoI to regulate a system and adopt stringent law in checking insurgency and drug peddling, instead of fencing the borders
“Perhaps there are betters ways of dealing with issues, rather than directly trying to hurt the sentiments of its innocent citizens,” he said.
