ILP verification drive held in Kohima, 495 defaulters detected

Kohima: Rs 2,15,400 realized as penalty and deposited as Government revenue

A verification drive was carried out all over Kohima District from 6th to 8th March 2024 by a Task Force Team consisting of District Administration and Police to detect illegal immigrants, ILP defaulters, DIPR said.

During the verification, cases of expired ILP permit and non-possession of ILP permit were detected and accordingly penalties were imposed as per section (2), (3) and (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) 1873.

A total of 495 ILP defaulters were detected within Kohima District, out of which 308 were detected from Kohima Town area, 59 from Chiephobozou sub-division and 128 from Sechü Zubza subdivision. A total amount of Rs 2,15,400 (Two lakh fifteen thousand four hundred) was realized as penalty and has been deposited as Government revenue.

The Task Force constituted will be conducting periodic checking for detection of illegal immigrant and ILP defaulters within Kohima District.
