Imchaba Memorial Volleyball Trophy: MH-10, Changtongya VA, Ozümi, Itovi Memorial Club in SF

Mokokchung: Reigning champions Ozümi to face last year’s runner up MH-10 Kohima

The 17th edition of the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy witnessed the quarter-final clashes today at Multi-Sports Complex Mokokchung, where top teams battled it out for a spot in the much-anticipated semi-finals.

In the first quarter-final, Itovi Memorial Club, Dimapur, faced off against Eastern Tornado, Tuensang. Despite a strong start by Eastern Tornado, Itovi Memorial Club clinched the match 2-0, with scores of 22-25 and 16-25, securing their place in the semi-finals.

The second quarter-final saw an intense contest between Longsa Sporting Club and Ozümi. Longsa took the first set 27-25, but Ozümi bounced back to win the next two sets 22-25 and 11-15, emerging victorious 2-1 in a hard-fought encounter.

In the third quarter-final, United Changki went head-to-head with Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA). CVA displayed their dominance from the outset, winning both sets convincingly, 19-25 and 18-25, to advance with a 2-0 victory.

The fourth quarter-final was an all-Kohima showdown between MH-10 and Michazou Mima. MH-10 demonstrated their superiority, taking the match 2-0 with a commanding 12-25 win in the first set and a more closely contested 22-25 in the second set.

As a result, MH-10, Changtongya Volleyball Association, Ozümi, and Itovi Memorial Club have advanced to the semi-finals.

The semi-final matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 20. In the first semi-final, Itovi Memorial Club, Dimapur will take on Changtongya Volleyball Association, while in the second, reigning champions Ozümi will face off against MH-10, Kohima. Last year’s final was a fierce contest between Ozümi and MH-10, with Ozümi emerging as champions.
