The Indian Meteorology Department has forecasted enhanced rainfall/thunderstorm activity to continue over Northeast India during the next 7 days. IMD informed on Saturday that the cyclonic circulation over north Bangladesh and another cyclonic circulation over east Assam and neighbourhood persist in lower tropospheric levels.
Due to these influences, rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh while scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 7 days, IMD has stated.
The Department has also said that the trough/wind discontinuity runs from south Chhattisgarh to Comorin area across interior Karnataka and interior Tamil Nadu in lower tropospheric levels. Meanwhile, the low-level anticyclone over the east central Bay of Bengal is likely to gradually strengthen and move northwestwards towards northwest Bay of Bengal from Saturday. Under these influences, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) is very likely over Jharkhand during 06th-10th; Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar during 06th-08th; Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada during 06th-12th and Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, during 07th-12th April, 2024.
Isolated light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) is also expected over Kerala and Mahe during 06th-12th; Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during 07th-10th; Karnataka during 09th-12th; Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Telangana during 08th-12th April 2024.
Further, there is warning of hailstorm at isolated places over Odisha on 07th; East Madhya Pradesh during 07th-10th; Vidarbha during 07th-09th; Chhattisgarh on 07th and 08th and Marathwada on 08th April 2024.
IMD has further predicted that heat wave conditions over Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka and Telangana is very likely on 06th and 07th April 2024.
