Dimapur received a maximum temperature of 37 ° C on July 28 while Kohima received a maximum temperature of 30°c, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
As the heat and humidity continued even for the hilly capital, the IMD has forecasted light to moderate rain in Nagaland over the next five days.

The IMD has also issued an Orange alert for the states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya which are likely to witness very heavy rainfall from July 30 to August 1.
