Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji has informed that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will implement immediately with the announcement of the schedule for holding General Election to the Lok Sabha 2024 and the MCC for the guidance of the political parties and candidates will also come into force. In this regard certain aspects required immediate and time bound action to be taken by all concerned, informed DIPR.
Defacement of Government Property: For this purpose a government premise would include any government office campus wherein in the office building is situated. All wall writing/posters or defacement in any form, cut-out, hoardings, banners and flags shall be removed within 24 hours from the announcement of election. Defacement of public property and misuse of public space: all unauthorized political advertisement, in the form of wall writing/poster or defacement in any form, cut-out, hoardings, banners and flags etc. in public property and public space like Railway Station, Bus Stand, Airport, Railway Bridges, Roadway, Government Buses, electric/telephone poles, municipal/local bodies building etc. shall be removed within 48 hours from the announcement of election by the Commission.

Defacement of private property: All unauthorized political advertisement displayed at private property and subject of law and court’s direction if any, shall be removed within 72 hours from the announcement of election by the commission. Misuse of official vehicle: There shall be a total ban on use of official vehicle by any political party, candidates or any other person concerned with election such as campaigning, electioneering or election related travel during election. Development/construction related activities: Within 72 hours of announcement of elections, all the HoDs under Mokokchung will submit list of following works which has already been started on ground and fresh work which has not started on ground.
