The Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board met at DC Office conference hall, Zunheboto on Friday with Chairman DPDB and Advisor of Land Resources G Ikuto Zhimomi, MLA Toiho Yepthomi and MLA Dr. Sukhato Sema in attendance.
DIPR informed that the agenda included discussion on the incomplete works of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) in the district and the abundance of illegal drugs that has created a menace in the society, among others.
Earlier in the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS congratulated the newly elected Members of Legislative Assembly and felicitated them. This was followed by an introductory session.
Advisor Ikuto, in his introductory speech, said that the government has marked this year as the year to achieve ‘a state of excellence’, and to achieve this goal district head of departments and staff need to do their duties with full dedication. He also applauded the DC, Superintendent of Police, and all officials for conducting the recently concluded general election without any violence in the Zunheboto district.
MLA Toiho requested the officers to cooperate with the MLAs so that they can do justice to their chair and also assured them that they will always be ready to help in any way and at any time.
MLA Dr. Sukhato said that God has blessed them by helping them win the election and that they will always be ready to help in any way possible as they are the servants of the public. Dr. Sukhato applauded the recent people’s friendly budget where various budgets were made for the people especially targeting the youths and requested the officers to make various schemes and projects known to the people.

The first agenda discussed was for procurement of land for setting up of Sumi Literature Board, wherein various issues regarding this agenda were discussed and the house decided to defer the agenda to the next meeting with other MLAs in attendance.
The second agenda discussed was society registration where Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church (Aizuto) and Leva Foundation at Satoi town had sought society registration and the House agreed to send the recommendation to the Home department for society registration.
The third agenda discussed was clarification sought from the NHIDCL by Zunheboto NDPP Chairman Khehoshe Yeptho. Members from NHIDCL replied that due to some problems, certain works were left undone but assured that the said incomplete works will be done soon.
Superintendent of Police, Vishal highlighted the various crime reports in Zunheboto especially about the abundance of drugs found in the district. He highlighted the role of the pharmacist in selling various drugs without proper prescription and sought the MLAs’ help in tackling the menace of drugs in the district.
