India issues advisory to its nationals in Myanmar

New Delhi: Indian nationals asked to register themselves with Embassy of India, Yangon

The Government of India on Tuesday issues an advisory to its nationals living in Myanmar in view of the volatile security situation in the neighbouring nation.

The advisory from Ministry of External Affairs advised Indians already living in Myanmar to take precaution and avoid travel to the regions affected by violence. Inter-state travel by road should also be avoided, it said.

Embassy of India, Yangon, Myanmar, informed on its website that the registration can be done online by either sending soft copy of the filled-up form along with the documents by email or by depositing the hard copy of the same to the embassy. Submission of papers may either be done in person or through authorized representatives who will be required to produce authority letter and proof of identity, it said.

The documents required are:

(a) Two colour passport size photographs of each member of family;

(b) One copy each of the Passport’s first page, last page and current visa page;

(c) Passport of each individual (for verification)

The Embassy also informed that no fee will be charged for registration and that the certificate of registration will be issued to the applicant within one month.

Further, MEA has also advised all Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Myanmar where the fight between the military government and the ethnic armed groups has escalated in the past weeks.
