The Ministry of External Affairs has firmly rejected China naming 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh. “Assigning invented names will not alter the reality that Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India,” MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal asserted.

China’s Civil Affairs Ministry had on Monday released a list of names of 30 places in Zangnan, the Chinese name for Arunachal Pradesh. These places include mountains, rivers, lake, residential areas, etc.

MEA has said “China has persisted with its senseless attempts to rename places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. We firmly reject such attempts.”

On Monday, Union Minister Dr S Jaishankar slammed China over the issue and stated, “ if today I change the name of your house, will it become mine?”

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned “China’s illegally ‘standardised’ geographical names given to 30 places inside Arunachal Pradesh.” He said that China’s baseless claims will not change the ground reality and the ‘historical facts’ and affirmed that the state is “inalienable part of India, & people of Arunachal Pradesh are supremely patriotic Indians by all standards & definitions.”

Arunachal’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu said today that the naming the 30 places in the State is “Another gimmick from China” and criticized the act. “Proud citizens and patriots of Arunachal Pradesh is rejecting such antics,” he said.
