Indian Army prevents 4 youth in Upper Assam from joining NSCN-IM

Tinsukia: individuals apprehended while trying to board train to Dimapur

The Indian Army has said that it foiled a major recruitment bid in Tinsukia District by preventing four individuals from joining NSCN-IM.

PRO and Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh informed that the youth had come in contact of an active cadre of the NSCN-IM, who lured them to join their ranks. However, based on the specific information, Army was constantly monitoring their activities.

On 12 July 2024, when the individuals, as instructed, were about to board a train to Dimapur from New Tinsukia Railway Station, Indian Army personnel, along with Assam Police established a discreet surveillance network at the railway station, all four individuals were apprehended while trying to board the train.

As per latest inputs, the youth have been given a warning by police authorities and handed over to their families.
