The Indian Navy Motor Bike team – The Sea Riders – in collaboration with Central Bureau of Communication Field office Kohima, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting held a cultural cum media interactive programme at the Multimedia Exhibition Hall on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Kisama today.
As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, The Sea Riders in partnership with Royal Enfield are embarking on an epic motorcycle expedition across the seven states of Northeast India from 25 November to 14 December 2022.
Addressing the media, Captain Sumeet Puri informed that the team consists of 17 riders, including three female riders and three support staff.
The entire event is being organised to commemorate 75 years of independence and as part of the Indian Navy’s Look East policy to encourage men and women of the Northeast to join the Indian Navy.
The three female riders – Commodore Ratna Prabha Karle, Lieutenant Commodore Lehar Singhal and Trimann Saluja – also shared their experiences during the programme.
During the expedition, the sea riders will interact with students at various schools and introduce the spirit of adventure whilst making them aware about the Indian Navy. This unique partnership aims at motivating the youth to join the Armed Forces. The expedition will conclude in Guwahati on 15 December.
The expedition is being conducted over two phases across the seven states with each phase covering some of the toughest and most breath-taking terrains in Northeast India and also witnessing the famous Hornbill Festival of Nagaland. The team will be passing through the capital cities – Guwahati, Shillong, Aizawl, Imphal and Kohima – and riding through the high-altitude Se La Pass and Bum La Pass of Arunachal Pradesh.
