A significant milestone in the promotion of sports and community development was marked with the inauguration of the Double Court Badminton Indoor Stadium at Tuli Sub-Division, Mokokchung, on July 5. Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, attended the occasion as the Special Guest and officially inaugurated the stadium.
The Double Court Badminton Indoor Stadium was constructed by the Tuli Sub-Division Badminton Association (TSDBA) under the initiative, mobilisation, and dedicated support of Nukshimatong, NCS, SDO (Civil) & Border Magistrate, Tuli, along with generous contributions from well-wishers across Nagaland. The initial capital for this noble project was raised through fundraising efforts by members of the TSDBA. The Association expressed its profound gratitude to all donors, both in cash and in kind, whose generosity turned this long-cherished vision into reality.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the community’s initiative in undertaking such infrastructural development. He remarked that it is the people and not merely resources that drive progress in society. He also thanked the SDO (Civil) & Border Magistrate, Tuli, for his tireless efforts and initiative, which led to the successful construction of the stadium and brought this vision to life.
He further encouraged greater community participation, stating that such involvement enhances the effectiveness of government initiatives in the region.
According to the construction report, the entire project was completed at an approximate cost of ₹34 lakhs, entirely sourced through community contributions.
The newly inaugurated stadium is expected to serve as a hub for badminton activities, talent development, and inter-district tournaments in the days to come.
