The Department of Industries and Commerce, Nagaland, organized a PM Vishwakarma, Banking, Marketing and Entrepreneurship Workshop at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha on February 3. The workshop aimed to create awareness about government schemes, promote entrepreneurship and strengthen financial literacy among citizens.
Delivering the welcome address, General Manager of DIC Wokha, K. Myingthungo Kikon, emphasized the importance of awareness regarding schemes available to the public. He highlighted the need for citizens to understand the registration process, the challenges faced in accessing loans, and the opportunities offered through various government initiatives. He urged participants to take advantage of these schemes to enhance livelihoods and contribute to local economic growth, stressing that informed citizens are better equipped to harness opportunities for self-reliance and development.

In the first session, Inspector, DIC Wokha, Lirhonthung S. Humtsoe presented on various schemes under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, outlining opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs to access support and funding. In the second session, Skill Development Officer, Anuranjan Singh spoke on entrepreneurship development, e-commerce, packaging, and sales strategies encouraging participants to adopt innovative approaches to reach wider markets.

In the third session, LDM, Wokha, C. Yanthan, delivered a session on financial literacy focusing on credit-related issues and support available for PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries. While in the fourth session, SL-PMU representative, Lohe Lokajia Victoria explained the onboarding process and QR code generation for PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries ensuring smoother access to scheme benefits.
The sessions provided participants with practical knowledge on entrepreneurship, financial management and digital integration, while also highlighting flagship programmes such as PM Vishwakarma, which supports traditional artisans and craftsmen through skill training, financial assistance and market linkages.
The workshop concluded with an interactive session where participants raised questions and clarified doubts with the resource persons. The engagement reflected the enthusiasm of local entrepreneurs and citizens to explore opportunities under government initiatives.
The programme was widely appreciated as a significant step in equipping citizens with knowledge and resources to harness government schemes, thereby fostering self-reliance, entrepreneurship and inclusive development in Wokha.
