With the objective of providing free health services catering to at risk population in priority districts, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) launched the Integrated Health Campaign at DC’s Office, Chümoukedima on May 22, informed a DIPR report.
The campaign will be conducted for a period of two months and will cover all pockets of adjoining districts. Packages of sejrvices in counselling, screening of TB, HIV, Syphilis, HBV, HCV testing, Diagnosis of diabetic, Hypertension, Anaemia and any other services as per local needs will be provided.
Speaking at the launching program, ADC Chümoukedima, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo, NCS stated that Chümoukedima, being a new district, needs institutional based set up of CMO Office so that implementations can be carried out in a better way. He requested civil societies, NGOs, tribal councils to disseminate the information to the local people and create awareness campaign, as most of the people are unaware of the facilities. He also assured that the district administration will extend a helping hand in every possible way for the smooth implementation of the campaign.
During his keynote address, Project Director, NSACS, Dr. Ahu Sekhose, pointed that the campaign is a tailored made strategy for all the entire state in India but basically targeted in North East. This exercise is classified in a targeted places where there are substantial number of pathological people. By 2026, the department intends to achieve the goal on three categories- first , 95 will be targeted on the facilitation of all the positive people to know their status, second 95 based on to put under treatment of positive cases, third 95 is to achieve suppress viral growth under control, Dr. Sekhose added.
Deputy Director, STI & Nodal Officer, IHC, NSACS, Dr. Zaiwang during her presentation on IHC highlighted the Chümoukedima district profile, where the total population of the District is 1,54,410; Alive and on ART as of March 2024 was 1,861; Chumoukedima Sadar is 1,738, Medziphema Block 74, Dhansiripar Block 49. Total number of people tested for HIV from April 2023-March 2024 is 17,162, General client is 14,783, ANC 2,379.
She informed that the total No. of people tested positive from April 2023-March 2024 is 168. As of NACO, General clients is 160 (1.1%), ANC 8(0.3%). While, total Syphilis case detected in (2023-24) is 181/3 (1.7%), total Targeted Intervention 3(IDUS), total HRG’s tested for HIV From April 2023-March 2024 is 1180, total HRG’s tested positive From April 2023-March 2024 is 3(0.3%).

She further highlighted the mode of implementation based on two mode-target population and how to reach. Key high risk groups (HRGs) and other at risk and vulnerable population who are into high risk injecting practices, high risk sexual behaviour or part of high risk sexual/injecting networks etc. are based on target population, she added. While, Integrated Health Camps at various camp sites/ villages to reach-out to the larger general population with a Comprehensive Service Package to avoid any stigma and discrimination will be organised.
Further, highlighted on overview of the upcoming camps- Total number of sites identified based on the positivity rate as well as prevalence of Vulnerable population in the District is 59; Total Camp planned to be conducted is 23 Camps; Extended Camp is 21; Main/Static Camp is 2 and Timeline of the Camp is 22nd May 2024-26th June 2024.
The welcome address was delivered by CMO, Chümoukedima, Dr. Yartenla while the vote of thanks was delivered by District AIDS Control Office (DACO), Dr. Benchilo Ngullie.
