Inaugural function of Inter-District GHSS & GHS Tournament 2024 funded by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland was held on Tuesday at Meriema Ground with Director, School Education, Nagaland Wonthungo Tsopoe as the Chief Guest, DIPR has informed.

Speaking at the inaugural function Tsopoe emphasized the essence of education as per UNESCO definition, focusing on learning to coexist harmoniously as humans, particularly with relevant to the state context. He underscored the significance of instilling this ethos through sports, promoting mutual respect and collective appreciation.

The Director highlighted how education through sports is important and how due to lack of resources and little support many young talents are being left out. He also encouraged the students to bring the best in them. Tsopoe also urged the parents and the physical teachers to encourage and motivate the latent sporting talent to unlock their talents.

He also exhorted the students to be discipline in life without which one cannot achieve anything in life and abstain themselves from drugs or any intoxicated substances. Tsopoe concluded by urging participants to embody disciplined sportsmanship throughout the two-day event, underscoring its role in shaping the future sporting.

The program was chaired by Physical Education Teacher Vitsolie Keyho and invocation by pastor Phezoucha Baptist Church, Keduoneituo Yhome and Special number by students of T. M GHSS and administration of oath by competition referee Neilazetuo Khezhie, followed by declaration of the tournament by the Chief Guest.
