The Inter-Ward Moatsu Cultural song competition was held on May 1 in Mokokchung, showcasing the vibrant cultural spirit of the district. Seventeen wards participated in the event, which was open to contestants aged 15 to 45, highlighting strong intergenerational involvement and community pride.
Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, T.N. Manen, attended the event as the special guest. The celebration also featured a special performance by the popular local group Dreamz Unlimited.
In his address, T.N. Manen emphasized the importance of preserving and reviving traditional practices, stating that culture and tradition are essential components of any tribe or community that define who we are lifestyle, habits, and our identity.
He further remarked that organizing such festivals is a step toward reviving cultural heritage that may have been neglected due to isolation or changing times. He said that by bringing back such traditions, we are reconnecting with a part of ourselves.

Manen also highlighted the role of political movements in shaping identity, stating that cultural revival must go hand in hand with political consciousness to assert and safeguard the identity of a people.
In the competition, Salangtem Ward emerged as the winner, followed by Mongsenbai Ward in second place and Tongdentsuyong Ward in third. All winning wards were awarded certificates and cash prizes Rs. 20000, Rs. 15000 and Rs. 10000 accordingly in recognition of their performances.
The competition was judged by guru Bendangwati Pongen, guru Chubatuzung Longkumer, Tatar, Chuchuyimlang and I. Tsukjemwati Walling, Molungkimong.
