Interaction with Women on Wheels held in Kohima

A short program of interaction with Women on Wheels (WoW Season-2) was held at the Deck, Hotel Vivor, Kohima, with Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women, Delhi, informed DIPR.

Sharma extended her great appreciation towards the women of Northeast region of India, Amazing Namaste WoW explores and Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) for organizing such events. She highlighted the Mahila Band Nagaland for their extraordinary talents showcased in a recently concluded program of National Commission for Women at Delhi.

“I was also overwhelmed by beautifully articulated weaving stories by Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu,” shared Sharma who added that she would like to invite her in the next National program. The untold problems faced to Northeast people specifically towards women’s at mainland India were highlighted where she hoped that the Women’s on Wheels will help widespread awareness on Northeastern region which is a very important integral part of India and feeling of one India one nation.

Earlier Nginyeih Konyak,  Chairperson of NSCW delivered the introduction and felicitation, while the weaving story was presented by Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu. Anuradha Paraskar and Hoinunnem Chongloi shared the experiences and appreciation note from Women on Wheels and Amazing Namaste.

Wangbang Konyak, Advisor to Social Welfare Department Government of Nagaland acknowledged the present society where women are leading. Konyak also reminded that for the first time after the statehood, two Naga Women also made history in winning two seats in the election which shows that Naga women are also on the wheels of change with the rest of the country.

The program was compared by Gracy Ayee SMC, SHRW, Mission Shakti which was followed by interaction.
