Kohima: In the state capital, the Department of Health and Family Welfare (National Ayush Mission (NAM) – Nagaland) and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports organised an event at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IG Stadium), Kohima.
State Programme Officer (SPO) AYUSH Dr. Seyiekhrietuo John mentioned that this year the government of India has given out 10 signature events to be conducted and three were conducted in Nagaland. He said that in the Yoga Sangam everyone had to follow the common yoga protocol, consisting of 45 minutes. The yoga started at 7 AM and it concluded at 7:45 AM.
Dr. John highlighted that in India more than one lakh places are organizing the Yoga Sangam and many Nagas are also coming to know about the benefits of yoga. Pointing out that there are misconceptions surrounding yoga, the official said yoga is not a religion and it does not belong to any particular religion.
“Yoga is for all human and for all human race. The words yoga is from Sanskrit. It is a union or combined of you and with your God,” he added.
Health Minister P Paiwang Konyak, along with officials from the concerned departments, students, and volunteers from NCC and NSS, participated in the common yoga protocol session as part of the celebrations.

Kiphire: The 11th International Yoga Day was observed at the DC Conference Hall, Kiphire, with the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”. The event was aimed to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being through the practice of yoga.
The highlight of the program was the common yoga protocol and demonstration led by Havildar Rajesh Kumar. He guided the participants through various yoga postures and breathing exercises, encouraging everyone to adopt yoga as a way of life for holistic health.
EAC (HQ) Kiphire Takatemjen Pongen who delivered the welcome address at the programme highlighted the significance of yoga in daily life and its role in building a healthier society.
Psycho-Social Counsellor at One Stop Centre (OSC), Kiphire Tsosingthsi in her concluding remarks appreciated the participants for their active involvement and stressed the need to continue practicing yoga beyond the event.
Noklak: The Integrated AYUSH Hospital (IAH) Noklak in collaboration with the district administration, SANKALP, DHEW, Mission Shakti Noklak, organised the Yoga Day at Multi Discipline Sports Complex in Noklak.
The event saw the participation of all the district department heads in Noklak along with the staff of IAH, Noklak. Out of 97 attendees, 59 individuals participated in the event.
EAC Noklak, Bangjunglemba, in his address said that the celebration unites millions across the globe in the spirit of wellness, balance, and peace. He emphasized that this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” reminds everyone that human health is closely connected to the health of the planet and environment.
He explained that yoga is more than just physical exercise but a holistic philosophy that promotes harmony between body, mind, soul. Highlighting the meaning of the word “yoga” as “union,” he stated that in today’s world, there is a greater need for unity between humanity and nature, science and spirituality, tradition and modern life.
Referring to ancient yogic values, the official pointed out that yoga teaches individuals to live mindfully, to take only what they need, and to treat all forms of life with respect. He cited principles such as Ahimsa (non-violence) and Aparigraha (non-possessiveness) as essential to sustainable living.
Earlier, the program was chaired by staff nurse IAH Chiu L, invocation by Ketho from SBI Noklak while a brief overview of the day was presented by IAH Noklak resident medical officer Dr. Hukiye followed by yoga session led by yoga instructor, IAH Medolenuo.
Mokokchung: The 11th International Yoga Day was observed at the Multipurpose
Sports Hall, Mokokchung, on June 21. The event was organised by the district administration Mokokchung in collaboration with the district YRS and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Mokokchung.
More than 200 participants from various sections of the community took part in the programme.
Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung addressed the gathering and underlined the role of yoga in enhancing both physical and mental well-being. He encouraged the participants to integrate yoga into their daily routines for long-term health benefits.
As part of the event, a yoga session was conducted by instructors Tovili Wati and Imkong, who guided the participants through a series of exercises. The session witnessed active involvement and interest from the attendees.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on the continuing relevance of yoga in promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Tuensang: In Tuensang, the International Yoga Day was organised at Bethel Children Home Tuensang on Saturday in the children’s campus.
Alila Yimkhiung staff of Bethel Children home, said that the activities focused on how the practice of yoga serves a unifying force for the mind and body, and to live a healthier life style and help children concentrate in their studies.
The yoga performance followed the prescribed yoga protocol led by Alila and showcasing the yoga poses.
She encouraged the children to practice daily for healthy lifestyle and expressed gratitude to children’s for obeying the rule and coming together to celebrate the essence of yoga day with its profound impact on holistic well-being.
