International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day was commemorated in Mokokchung under the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive” on Wednesday at the Chief Medical Officer’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung. DIPR informed that during a brief programme, Thsuvisie Phoji, Chairman Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mokokchung and Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung highlighted on the significance of the day.
In his address, the DC said that humans have overcome so many deadly diseases, disaster and calamities because of our joint effort and care for fellow humans. As a member of Red Cross Society, we need to keep our faith in humanity, he stated and emphasised that irrespective of races, breed and colour, all belong to the same species.
Phoji called upon the members of Red Cross Society to be ready to help people in distress and come together – united for the cost of humanity.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. S.S. Akaba Longchar, Honorary Secretary, IRCS Mokokchung and vote of thanks was said by Dr. Kibangkumba, Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung. Red Cross Members from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mayangnokcha HSS and Govt. High School Mokokchung Village along with their respective teachers attended the programme.
