The Reasearch Committee and IQAC, MTC, Wokha organised a one-day international webinar on “Influence of popular Korean culture among youths in Nagaland: Challenges and Opportunities” on Tuesday at Mount Tiyi Collge Conference Hall with Dr. Bongli Sangtam, Ph. D (IIT), Research Scientist & Guest Faculty, Department of Medical and Mechatronic Engineering, Soon Chun Hyang University, South Korea as the Resource person.
Dr. Bongli Sangtam, deliberating on the theme, touched about several aspects of Korean culture and practices such as South Korea’s transformation from poverty to prosperity, Korean work ethics, public etiquettes, social environment, sustainable environmental policies, promotion and use of homegrown technology, social media preferences, reality of K-pop idols, etc.
While pointing out the top universities in South Korea and the different scholarships available for studying in the country, the resource person reminded the audience about proficiency in Korean language as one of the prerequisites and suggested top websites and apps for learning Korean language.
He concluded that there are many practices and attitudes of the Koreans that Nagas can adapt to their context like self-reliance, fostering growth and strong community spirit.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Pichano Kikon. Welcome speech and keynote address were delivered by Dr. Bweyhunle Khing, Principal and Dr. I. Koktiba Sangtam, Convenor, Research Committee, MTC.
The session ended with Q&A where the resource person responded to queries raised by the participants. Observation and remarks were made by Dr. Libemo Kithan, Associate Professor, Department of History, MTC. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Medongunuo Ngone, Co-ordinator, IQAC, MTC.
