Investiture ceremony of the Assam Rifles held in Raj Bhavan

The Investiture Ceremony of the Assam Rifles was held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima on 9th October 2024.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, said that with profound pride and immense joy he stands at the auspicious investiture ceremony, celebrating the remarkable achievements and contributions of our distinguished award winners towards our nation- a moment that also celebrates the unwavering dedication, courage, and commitment of our brave men and women of Assam Rifles. The gathering is not just to recognise individual achievements, but to pay tribute to the collective spirit of service that the Assam Rifles embodies.

The Governor commended the Assam Rifles by saying that as the Governor of the beautiful state of Nagaland, he has always been inspired by the exemplary service rendered by the Assam Rifles. He said that their role extends beyond safeguarding our borders; they are vital pillars of our community, acting as peacekeepers and facilitators of development in remote areas. Their presence has ensured not only security but also stability, which is crucial for progress in our region, he added.

The Governor further lauded the awardees saying, as they are bestowed with accolades; let us reflect on the significance of their contributions, which illuminate the path toward a brighter and more prosperous Nagaland. Their achievements serve as a beacon of hope and motivation for future generations, underscoring the values of hard work, integrity, and excellence. And may this recognition propel them further in their journeys, and may their accomplishments continue to inspire the youth of our state, he added.

The Governor further congratulated them and said that their exemplary actions inspire not only their fellow soldiers but also the entire nation and said that they have set a benchmark for excellence, and their stories of bravery will resonate for generations to come.

The Governor also acknowledged the Battalions that have excelled in their duties. This recognition highlights the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie not just within the armed forces but also with the district administration and the general public that is vital for ensuring peace and security in the region. It reminds that behind every individual achievement lies the strength of a united force working towards a common goal. This recognition also highlights the fact that the Assam Rifles have long been ambassadors of peace and goodwill, serving as a bridge between communities and the military.

During the Investiture ceremony, 10 individuals were awarded with Governors’ Gold Medal and 14 were awarded with Governors’  Silver Medal, and 7th Assam Rifles Battalion and 45th Assam Rifles Battalion were given the Governors’ Unit Appreciation for their exemplary works.
