In a compassionate gesture, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dimapur District Branch, swiftly extended humanitarian relief to families affected by the devastating fire that broke out at Phaipijang village on October 22, 2025.
According to IRCS Dimapur, the fire completely gutted eight plots, affecting 56 individuals—most of whom earned their livelihood as auto drivers and hawkers selling roasted chana in the local market.
Following the incident, IRCS Dimapur Chairman, Chandu Agarwal, along with a team member, visited the site to assess the damage and interact with the victims. After a joint discussion with Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Tinojongshi Chang, and IRCS Dimapur President, it was decided that immediate relief materials would be distributed to all the affected families.
Each affected household received essential items such as kitchen utensils, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, bed covers, and pillow covers. Some of these materials were provided by the IRCS State Branch as part of its emergency support initiative.
