The inauguration of Iron water treatment plant and a children and adolescents library in Officers’ Hill Kohima was held on October 8 at Government Middle School (GMS) Officers Hill.
Kevinei-ü Sekhose, Councillor Ward No. 10, in her short speech, expressed pride and joy to inaugurate the library. “A library is not just a place with book, it is a treasure house of knowledge, a sanctuary for imagination and a guide for life,” said the Councillor.
For children, she said, this will be a space of wonder- where stories take you to magical lands and spark their creativity. For the youth, adolescents it will be a trusted companion, offering wisdom, courage, and guidance during these important years of growth, Sekhose added.
Delving on the essence of books and reading, Sekhose acknowledged that reading remains one of the strongest habits one can develop in a world full of distractions.
“Books help us think deeply, dream bigger and understand others with empathy. “They shape not only our stories but also our character and a future,” she added.

The Councillor encouraged the students to make the library their second home, and advised them to read widely beyond textbooks- explore stories, science, history, and poetry.
“Each book you open will add to your strength and understanding,” Sekhose expressed.
Stating that the library has been built with dedication and love, she sincerely thanked the Department of Art and Culture who made it possible.
Rev. Sentisashi Aier, Senior Pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo blessed the program with a dedication prayer. The program was chaired by Ruokuolhouvo Miachieo, Vice Chairman OHCC while Khrielakuo Sekhose, Chairman, Officers’ Hill Colony Panchayat gave a short speech. Shepo Dzudo delivered the vote of thanks.
