An employee of NST Department working as a chowkidar of ISBT Purana Bazar, Dimapur was found in a pool of blood in his workplace on the morning of 24 August 2023. Police has identified the deceased as Hozheto Yeptho (58 years) from Akaba Village under Zunheboto district.

A statement from Dimapur Police informed that according to the wife of the deceased, on the tragic day, her late husband left for his work as usual at 4:00 am to open the ISBT Complex gate. When he had not returned home, their daughter went searching for him and discovered the horrifying murder scene behind the building.

Police said that Late Yetho’s body had “multiple injury wounds on his chest and neck” believed to be from a “sharp object”. The statement also said that the police suspect that he may had been killed while chasing an intruder as in the CCTV footage, “the deceased could be seen running after the murder suspect inside the ISBT Complex in the wee hours of 24th August”.

The incident is suspected to have occurred between 4-5 am in the morning.

Police has said that it is analyzing all the CCTV’s and evidences collected/lifted from crime scene in order to arrest the culprit. Further, post mortem was conducted and the dead body was handed over to the relatives.

In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation on going, the police said.
