In an inspiring act of solidarity and dedication, the employees and trainees of Government ITI Mokokchung have undertaken a commendable welfare project to renovate and revamp their institute. Prompted by the challenges faced during the rainy season, such as leakage issues from the slab and roof that hindered the smooth functioning of classes, the decision to undertake this project was made.

The Principal, T Imlisunep Ao, and the entire institute community came together to devise a comprehensive plan of action. They voluntarily contributed funds towards the repair and renovation works, which included concrete slab casting, painting, and electrical upgrades. The trainees also showcased their dedication by making generous monetary donations and providing hands-on physical assistance.

“We are truly thrilled to have had the opportunity to contribute towards enhancing the working environment of our institute,” said the Principal.

The employees and trainees have worked for three whole days starting from July 8 and anticipate that the work will take approximately ten days to complete, including further painting and electrification. The principal mentioned that they have been suffering from these issues for 7 to 8 years. On day 4, a holiday is declared to facilitate wall cleaning, classroom washing, and the start of the painting and wall repair process.

A total of 115 trainees and 27 employees contributed each day while also attending classes. The trainees helped the laborers with transporting roofing materials, sand, and more. Approximately 2 inches of roofing repair, covering roughly 2500+ sqft, has been completed to manage water leakage, while drainage plumbing for proper water flow will be done, informed the Principal.

The principal informed that approximately 1.4 lakh rupees had been utilized for the repairing work. Established in 2005, the Industrial Training Institute Mokokchung, Nagaland, is located 4 km away from the main police point of Mokokchung Town. It has trained about 1200 students, excluding the present trainees, offering six trades: Electrician, Electronics, Stenography, Computer, Civil, and Mechanical for 10th pass and above (1/2 years course). Short-term courses (3 months) are also available for 8th pass and above, free of cost.

Principal Imlisunep Ao emphasized the importance of vocational training, stating that skills accumulated are very useful and job employability is positive if one is dedicated and hardworking. He noted that along with a degree, having skills makes life easier, highlighting the necessity of skills in today’s world.
