Jakhama-Viswema NH-2 bridge restoration underway

Kohima: Contractor In-Charge informs Advisor that the bridge restoration will be complete within next two-days

Er Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Prisons and Printing & Stationery, inspected the ongoing restoration works of the bridge between Jakhama-Viswema NH-2 in Kohima district on the 2nd June, 2024.

During the inspection, the Advisor expressed satisfaction that workers and site engineers of the contractor firm – Fortuner – were engaged on war-footing for restoration works.

The DC Kohima restricted movement of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) beyond 12 tonnes over the bridge located near E-service station Jakhama on National Highway-2 since May 30. Restrictions on movement of HMV beyond 12 tonnes will continue until the restoration is complete.

Earlier on June 1, the Advisor also called on Gajendra Singh Rana, General Manager of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and expressed concern on the dilapidated condition of the bridge and also Kohima-Mao road.
