On the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2024, the Tribal Affairs Department organized a tribal walkathon on November 15. The event was organized under the theme “From Vision to Mission.”
Starting from the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Gate, the Walkathon was graced by Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education and SCERT, as the special guest at the flag-off event.
In his brief speech, Dr. Yhome emphasized that Nagaland is a prominent tribal state among many others in India, expressing pride in this identity. He declared the day significant in honoring those who fought for freedom and celebrated the collective spirit of walking the walkathon alongside the nation.

The program also featured an exhibition of tribal artwork and folktale narration, part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2024 celebrations, along with an IEC campaign for the Dharti AABA Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan at the DUDA conference hall in Kohima.
Special guests included MLA Manpon Konyak from 47 A/C, MLA Imtichoba Chang from 54 A/C, and MLA Y. Mankhao Konyak from 46 A/C. Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ashok Gupta, also delivered a brief speech.
All tribes from various districts participated in the storytelling and folktale narration. The celebrations will continue from November 15 to 26, featuring a variety of activities and events.
