JCC extends pen down strike from October 17; teachers and educational institutions exempted

The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) have extended its ongoing pen down strike against the IAS induction row from October 17 till further instructions. Teachers and educational institutions has been exempted from the strike.

 

In a circular issued on October 16, the JCC comprising of CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA and NF&ASA mentioned that it deliberated on the strike in relation to the protest against the subversion of meritocracy in the non-SCS IAS induction process. Having considered the facts and prevailing circumstances, it decided to extend the pen-down strike from October 17 till further instructions.

Further, on the request of the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA), considering the welfare of the students’ community, the JCC  exempted teachers and educational institutions from the purview of the pen-down strike. It  acknowledged every member of ANSTA for standing steadfast and resolute in their support for meritocracy.

The JCC also expressed  gratitude to all Associations, organisations and individuals both overt and covert, for extending support for the noble cause of meritocracy.

“The JCC express sincere regrets for any inconvenience caused to the public during this Pen-down strike and appeals to the conscience of all right-thinking citizens of Nagaland to bear with the protest until this goal is achieved for the benefit of the future generation to inherit a system of fairness and merit,” expressed the Committee.

It reiterated that all other modalities for the strike issued earlier will remain enforced.
