Joint inspection of NH roads and urban roads carried out in Kohima ahead of Hornbill Festival

Kohima: Traffic management and alternate routes for easing traffic congestion particularly during Hornbill Festival explored

A joint inspection of National Highway Roads and Urban Roads in Kohima was carried out on 11th November 2023, with the team comprising of Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Revenue Officer, Executive Engineer (NPWD NH), EE (NPWD R&B), EE (Urban), EE Kohima Smart City Development Limited, National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and Contractors.

According to DIPR, the team inspected Kohima-Dimapur 4 lane package 3, Kohima – Bypass, Kohima – Mao and Kohima town roads. During the inspection, potholes, uneven surfaces, unkempt foliage were observed and flagged by the team to NHIDCL and NPWD respectively, including installations of signages and line markings.

DC Kohima advised the NHIDCL and NPWD to ensure comfortable and safe ride quality for all NH roads from Kiruphema to Khuzama, keeping in mind the forthcoming Hornbill Festival. DC also highlighted the dilapidated bridge at Peducha Dzüdza and other minor bridges along Kohima – Mao road. The team also visited the sinking zones at various locations. Clearing of soil, mud, rocks debris and beautification of National highway was also impressed upon NHIDCL and NPWD.

The team also visited the ongoing Kohima bypass tunnel construction and T. Khel model village road connecting NH 39 (Old) to NH 61 (Old).

Traffic management and alternate routes for easing traffic congestion particularly during the Hornbill Festival were also explored and verified by the SP Kohima.
