The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland on Wednesday observed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday by organising a programme at the state BJP head office in Kohima.
Speaking at the event as the special guest, Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton highlighted some achievements of PM Modi and said that his 75th birthday marks a remarkable journey of progress and development that has touched every corner of the nation, including Nagaland.
He said Modi’s leadership has been transformative for Nagaland, particularly in areas that directly impact the lives of the people. The vision of PM Modi was clear- to ensure that every citizen, regardless of where they live, has access to basic necessities, modern infrastructure and opportunities for growth. “In Nagaland, this vision is coming to life in numerous ways,” Patton stated.
Mentioning about the railway connectivity to Kohima, Dy CM said that it is a “dream becoming reality”. He said the progress being made on railway connectivity in Nagaland has been “most exciting development” and the direct rail link to state capital Kohima is now on
the cusp of becoming a reality, exhibiting Modi’s unwavering commitment to improving infrastructure in the northeast. Calling it a key step in connecting Nagaland to the rest of the country, Patton said it would ensure that the people of Nagaland will no longer be isolated but can easily access the broader economic and social opportunities that India has to offer.

On transforming highways in Nagaland, Patton said that there is a significant push to improve the road infrastructure in the state. The Modi government, he said, is focused on building and upgrading highways across the Northeast along with improvement of rural roads as an effort to ensure that the people are well-connected, both within the state and with the rest of the country.
With regard to public food distribution and “Modi rice”, the Dy CM said the initiative has significantly impacted Nagaland in public distribution system. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, he pointed out that the government has ensured that food security remains a priority for all.
“With the introduction of Modi rice in the public distribution system, the people of Nagaland are receiving fortified rice that meets their nutritional needs. This is a testament to the government’s commitment to making sure that no one is left behind,” Patton stated.
On the Jal Jeevan Mission: Bringing Tap Water to Households, Patton highlighted that access to clean and safe drinking water is fundamental to human dignity and health and the flagship program of the Modi government has brought tap water to millions of households across the country, and Nagaland is no exception.
Under this mission, he said lakhs of households in Nagaland have gained access to clean water, a basic necessity. He further added that this initiative has brought tremendous relief to families, especially women and children, who previously had to walk long distances to fetch water.
Stating that Modi’s vision is of service and selfless leadership, Patton stated that all of those developments reflect a deep commitment to service, to improving the lives of the-common people. He said that the Prime Minister’s vision for India is rooted in the idea of seva- service to the nation and to its people and this concept of service aligns closely with the values of Christianity which teaches that service to mankind is the highest calling.
He also informed that a series of events will be held to align with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the nation celebrates his birthday. The events, he said, will reflect the commitment to the values service, selflessness and community take place for a fortnight from September 17 under the umbrella of Sewa Pakhwada.
